SQUIRRELS LEAP - WOKING

NEW TWO STOREY DETACHED DWELLING.

Client: Private Client.

The client's brief required Squirrels Leap to be designed as a traditional house, brick built under a slate roof.  Within the framework of the brief the ground floor of the house has been planned for spatial adaptability.  The living area, dining area and study are all separated with glass sliding doors, allowing the spaces to merge into one for entertaining.

A large kitchen has been designed to incorporate a wide range of state of the art appliances and a breakfast area.  All ground floor living areas are provided with glass sliding external doors, to afford access to the terrace and garden.  These large glazed areas provide a strong visual link between the external spaces and internal living areas.

High levels of insulation, solar thermal roof panels, condensing boilers and underfloor heating ensure the building meets local authority energy conservation targets.  A user friendly Building Management System was installed, providing the client with push button control throughout the house over security, curtains/window blinds, scene setting lighting and audio visual equipment.

Access to the first floor is via a feature spiral staircase, formed in walnut, with a glass balustrade.  Sleeping accommodation comprises a master bedroom and three guest rooms, with the option of converting a ground floor gymnasium into a fifth bedroom.  All bedrooms are en-suite, with a dressing room included in the master bedroom.  The two main bedrooms enjoy the benefit of access to a large balcony overlooking the garden.
